K is for... Kitzinger, Jilly

A ruthlessly ambitious Public Relations agent who was employed by the PhiCorp organisation. She signed up the child-killer Oswald Danes, who had been saved from execution by the global "Miracle Day" event.
She was instructed to become Danes' personal manager, organising his media appearances. She made it clear to him that she hated him, but would work with him as this was what she was paid very well to do.
When it looked like his media profile was slipping, at the expense of a politician named Ellis Hartley Monroe, PhiCorp had the opposition eliminated.
Captain Jack Harkness wanted Danes to speak out against PhiCorp, who were making billions from the fact people were no longer dying, but were still aging and becoming sick. He refused, but also ignored the speech Kitzinger had wanted him to make.
Over time, Danes broke with Kitzinger but she found herself being promoted to work for the powerful Three Families who were behind the corporation.
In Shanghai, one of the locations for the phenomenon known as the Blessing, Kitzinger witnessed the end of the Miracle when first Jack poisoned it, then Danes blew it up along with himself.
Once she had made it back to the US she was approached by the Families to help them with a new scheme.

Played by: Lauren Ambrose. Appearances: Torchwood: Miracle Day (2011).
  • Ambrose first came to fame in the HBO series Six Feet Under.
  • She was a regular in the penultimate season of The X-Files.
  • The ending of her story in Miracle Day clearly set her up as a figure for an intended sequel - one which never was.
