60th News

Official news about the 60th Anniversary has been quiet, ever since the announcement that David Tennant would be back playing the Doctor, opposite Catherine Tate as Donna Noble. We then heard about the casting of Ncuti Gatwa as the new Doctor, and Yasmin Finney as a character called Rose.
Now today we have word from RTD himself that American actor Neil Patrick Harris is going to be appearing in the special. He first came to fame in his teens as the title character in the comedy series Doogie Howser MD. Since then he has featured in many films, TV shows and stage roles, including Broadway musicals. No word on who or what he might be playing.
Presumably this announcement has been made - like the one about Tennant and Tate - because Harris is about to be seen filming in a public location. RTD is no doubt wanting to keep things as low key as possible to avoid stealing the thunder from Chibnall's final episode in October.

That's it as far as official word goes, but thanks to those hardy individuals who sit on freezing cold pavements all night to get blurry shots of the back of someone's head, we know a lot more. Filming in Camden showed that Donna's family were all present and correct - husband Shaun, mum Sylvia and granddad Wilf. We have a fairly good idea of how Tennant can be back as the Doctor, and we also learned who Finney's Rose was, thanks to overheard dialogue. The director is now known to be Rachel Talalay.
Further filming this last week revealed two new monsters (at least to TV).
