Momentous events unfolding today in 2006 as Series 2 reached its conclusion. Doomsday saw the Daleks battle the Cybermen, and the departure of Rose Tyler - at least for a little while.
In 2009 we were on Day Three of Torchwood: Children of Earth. The alien 456 finally arrived in London, and we discovered that Captain Jack had history with them.
Today we remember Peter Hawkins - the real Voice of the Daleks. He passed away in 2006, aged 82.
As well as Daleks, Hawkins provided the voices for Captain Pugwash and Bill & Ben, among many other children's favourites.
He joined the programme on the very first Dalek story, and then gave voice to the creatures from Skaro in all of their 1960's stories. He was regularly partnered with David Graham in this, and latterly with Roy Skelton.
In The Daleks' Master Plan he also provided the taped voice of deceased agent Marc Cory.
As well as being the Voice of the Daleks, Hawkins was also the Voice of the Cybermen. He provided their vocals on their first four appearances (The Tenth Planet to The Wheel in Space).
