K is for... Klieg

Eric Klieg was a senior member of the Brotherhood of Logicians. He and his wealthy partner Kaftan agreed to fund an expedition by Professor Parry to the planet Telos - reputedly the final resting place of the Cybermen. Klieg had an ulterior motive for doing this - he intended to resurrect the Cybermen from their suspended animation and have them join forces with his organisation to conquer Earth and beyond.
The Doctor elected to help him, surreptitiously, in order to find out what his true aims were.
Klieg murdered the archaeologist Viner when he attempted to stop him from unfreezing the Cybermen.
He quickly realised that the Cybermen would never enter into any kind of agreement with him, until he obtained one of their own weapons with which he could coerce them.
Failing to realise that the Cybermen would ever bow to him, he was killed by the Cyber-Controller.

Played by: George Pastell. Appearances: The Tomb of the Cybermen (1967).
  • The Tomb of the Cybermen is very much inspired by Egyptology and especially Mummy movies. Greek Cypriot actor Pastell (real name Nino Pastellides) featured in two of Hammer's Mummy films - in a very Klieg-like role in The Mummy (1959), and later in The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb (1964).
