As the two Peter Cushing Dalek movies are in the news at the moment, thanks to 4K restorations and a limited cinema run, we will instead remember their director Gordon Flemyng. He passed away on this date in 1995, aged 61.
It's interesting how all the posters for the second movie focussed on the Robomen, with the Daleks pushed to the background. The UK poster at least has 'Dr Who' on it, albeit in the background again. Most posters, like the Italian one above, omitted the character altogether - though Cushing's name is always prominent. This one really takes liberties as it includes space rockets, burning cities and ladies in spacesuits which seem to have wandered in from a Toho Studios movie.
A few birthdays of note today - Tamsin Greig (The Long Game) is 56; Florence Hoath (Nancy in The Empty Child / The Doctor Dances) is 38; Sara Griffiths (almost companion Ray in Delta and the Bannermen) is 54; and Tom Price (Torchwood's PC Andy) is 42.
