On This Day... 23rd January

Roger Delgado's first story as the Master reached its conclusion today, when Part Four of Terror of the Autons was first broadcast in 1971.
On the same day in 1965, according to The Romans, All Roads Lead To Rome. This was the title of the second episode of that historical adventure, set in the time of the Emperor Nero.
Meanwhile, Torchwood's second series gave us Sleeper on this day in 2008.

Today's birthday of note is that of actor Brian Croucher. He only appeared once in Doctor Who, as Sandminer crewman Borg in The Robots of Death, but went on to portray Commander Travis in the second season of Blake's 7, taking over from Stephen Greif who had created the role in the first season.
If Terry Nation had had his way, Croucher's last B7 episode would also have featured the Daleks.
He turns 80 today.
