This week's DWM / Oliver Arkinstall-Jones

I usually only plug the latest DWM if it has particularly interesting content, or has a brilliant cover.
This month's manages to feature both.
As far as contents go, we have the salute to Bernard Cribbins, as well as an article about Hartnell scribe Donald Cotton (The Myth Makers, The Gunfighters, and the writer of The Romans novelisation along with his own two stories).
The "Fact of Fiction" covers The Invasion of Time. From the cover we can see that the forthcoming animation of The Abominable Snowmen is included.
Russell T Davies gets a mention - but Chris Chibnall is conspicuous by his absence (the story of his tenure, basically) and no indication of anything about the BBC Centenary story. I'll be very surprised if it isn't on the inside back cover in the "Next Issue" panel.

As for the cover, well I recognised straight away the work of Oliver Arkinstall-Jones. I've been a fan of his for some time now. He produces posters for Doctor Who stories in various retro styles - 1940's Universal Horror films, Italian Giallo movies, Hammer films, 1980's VHS covers and many others. For The Gunfighters he produced a spaghetti-western style poster, with Italian text. Two favourites of mine are "Space War" and its sequel "The Daleks Strike Back" - posters in the style of the first two Star Wars movies but featuring imagery from Frontier in Space and Planet of the Daleks.
I have been planning to include some of his work in the "Art of..." posts when I get to stories he's covered, but the earliest I've come across is Mission to the Unknown. (He adapted his poster to also produce a version for the student remake of this story).
He also does the odd VHS cover for stories which post-date the range, in the style of the old UK releases. Here are a couple of examples:

I'd strongly recommend you check out the rest of his work. He doesn't just do Doctor Who - I've seen his work on Facebook on the Peter Cushing Appreciation page, with artwork from actual Hammer films. He doesn't have a website as such, but you will find him on Twitter and Facebook (Arky-Jono) and he sells his work as T-Shirt designs at Redbubble.com (arkyjono93).
