Today in 1964 the TARDIS brought the Doctor and his companions to France, 1794, which at the time was very much A Land of Fear... The Reign of Terror would be the final story of Doctor Who's first season as broadcast.
The BBC radio series Slipback concluded with its fifth and sixth instalments today in 1985.
Today would also have been the birthdays of Terry Nation, Dalek creator (died 1997 aged 66); Keith Barron (Striker in Enlightenment, died 2017 aged 83); Earl Cameron (astronaut Williams in The Tenth Planet, died 2020 aged 102); and George Cormack (King Dalios in The Time Monster, and K'anpo in Planet of the Spiders - died 1983 aged 85).
We also remember Simon Lack, who passed away on this date in 1980, aged 66.
He first appeared in the series as Dr Kettering in The Mind of Evil, and returned as Sword Master Zadek in The Androids of Tara.
