On This Day... 17th July

"The Monk's got a TARDIS!" A game-changing cliff-hanger today in 1965 as A Battle of Wits came to an end. This was the penultimate instalment of The Time Meddler
The question of whether or not the Doctor had built the TARDIS was never properly answered up to this point. Susan claimed to have come up with the name - suggesting that it was unique to the Doctor - and in the previous story the Doctor had spoken about the Time-Path Detector as having been in the ship "since I built it". But is he talking about the device, or the ship as a whole? Looking at what he says in context, it seems to be the latter.
But then we suddenly meet another traveller in time, and he's not just built his own time machine - he's specifically got a TARDIS.
The slippery slope to Time Lords and Timeless Children starts here...
It seems unlikely that RTD will bring back the Time Lords. He destroyed them, only for Moffat to bring them back, then for Chibnall to destroy them all over again, having first entirely rewritten their history. There really isn't any mileage left in them.
RTD could move on to the "Time Lords Mk II" - i.e. the real race to which the Doctor belongs. All we know of them is that they hail from another universe. If they are made out to be bad and intent on invading our universe then that sets them up as a potential new Big Bad to be fought.
The alternative is to go back to basics and just ignore them, and have the Doctor a free agent, simply exploring space and time once again.
