K is for... Kizlet, Miss

Rosemary Kizlet was the CEO of an IT company based in London's Shard tower. This was a front for the Great Intelligence, who was using the company to ensnare people via their Wi-Fi.
They achieved this through their own Wi-Fi set-up, which victims would activate accidentally, and through the use of robotic mobile Wi-Fi stations known as 'Spoonheads', due to their concave heads.
Kizlet was able to use the Wi-Fi network to influence people - adjusting their mood individually, or sending an entire aircraft's crew and passengers to sleep.
It transpired that she and the rest of the company's staff were themselves slaves of the Intelligence, memories of their former lives wiped.
The Doctor found himself being copied by a Spoonhead, which had captured Clara Oswald. He was able to reprogramme it to go to the Shard offices and confront Kizlet. He also called upon UNIT soldiers to intervene. The Intelligence retreated, breaking its hold over the staff.
It transpired that Rosemary Kizlet had been under its influence since she was very young, as she regressed mentally into childhood.

Played by: Celia Imrie. Appearances: The Bells of Saint John (2013).
  • Other genre appearances by Imrie include Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, in which she played a Naboo pilot; and The Nightmare Man (written by Robert Holmes and directed by Douglas Camfield).
