Pex was the only young, male inhabitant of the Paradise Towers residential complex. He was a loner, who saw himself as the guardian of the place, and in this capacity rescued Mel Bush from what he believed to be danger. She was actually having tea with two old ladies - little realising that they were eyeing her up for dinner. Feral girl gangs known as Kangs mocked Pex and accused him of being a coward. He later admitted that when all the men had gone off to fight a war, he had been scared and hid. His new acts of bravado were an attempt to prove himself and to atone for his cowardice.
When a volunteer was sought to lure the Great Architect Kroagnon, his lifeforce inhabiting the body of the Chief Caretaker, into a lethal trap, Pex stepped forward. And when it looked like the trap had failed - forcing Kroagnon into a room boobytrapped with explosives, Pex sacrificed himself to ensure its success.
After his death, the Kangs, Caretakers and residents of the Towers raised a monument to him and vowed never to forget his bravery.
Played by: Howard Cooke. Appearances: Paradise Towers (1987).
- Writer Stephen Wyatt was unhappy with Cooke's casting as he had envisaged Pex (as in pecs) as a hulking muscle-bound figure akin to Stallone or Schwarzenegger, the physical image contrasting with his lack of bravery.
- Cooke's acting career was short-lived (there's only 4 credits on IMBd) and he gave it up sometime after 1988 to become a theatrical agent.
