Mansell was an Eternal, who acted as first mate on the pirate ship Buccaneer when these immortal beings took place in a race through the solar system. Their longevity meant that they had long exhausted their imaginations, and so relied on ephemeral beings for their entertainments and diversions. The Buccaneer was captained by Wrack, and she was determined to win the race at any cost. The prize was "Enlightenment", which could grant its possessor anything their heart desired. This brought her into partnership with the Black Guardian, who was attempting to get his revenge on the Doctor.
Mansell assisted Wrack in her various acts of sabotage against rival vessels. When he and Wrack attempted to throw the Doctor and his companion Turlough into space, they were overpowered and themselves ejected from their ship - cast back into the endless wastes of eternity.
Played by: Leee John. Appearances: Enlightenment (1983).
- Leee (Leslie McGregor John) was lead singer with the British pop group Imagination who were active through the 1980's. This was his only significant acting role.
- The role of Mansell was originally given to actor David Rhule, but industrial action and the need to complete Terminus caused delays to the studio dates - meaning Rhule was no longer available.
