Scooti Manista was a junior member of the Earth expedition to planet 43K2.1 - which was also known as Krop Tor. She was a trainee maintenance officer in Sanctuary Base 6, which had been established on the planet. This world was impossibly balanced on the edge of a Black Hole, generating a gravity funnel from a point deep beneath its surface which somehow held it in stasis. The expedition had come to investigate and exploit the power source for this funnel.
A powerful demonic figure - "the Beast" - was imprisoned at the heart of Krop Tor. Were it to try to escape, the planet would fall into the Black Hole. It planned instead to possess one of the humans and abandon its physical form. Archaeologist Toby Zed became host to the Beast. He began killing members of the crew and possessing their Ood servants. Scooti investigated an external door opening one night, and was shocked to see Toby standing outside in an airless vacuum. He locked her in a section of corridor then shattered its window, causing her to be sucked out into space.
When her colleagues tried to locate her, her communicator seemed to point towards the crew room - but they were horrified to see that she was floating lifeless just outside.

- She has appeared in two movies of the Twilight franchise, as well as the recent Witcher TV series. She also featured in the BBC's 2022 adaptation of MR James' Count Magnus.
