On This Day... 6th May

In 1967 The Faceless Ones reached its fifth instalment on this day, as did The Mutants in 1972.
Steven Moffat's second Doctor Who story was The Girl in the Fireplace, which made its debut today in 2006. Like his first story, this won a Hugo Award.
The big guest star for 2017's Knock Knock was David Suchet, who was playing the creepy Landlord. He is best known for his portrayal of the Belgian detective Hercules Poirot.

Today we remember Alethea Charlton - one of the series' very first guest performers. She played the cave woman Hur in An Unearthly Child. She returned to the series at the end of its second season, playing Edith in The Time Meddler. Other genre appearances included Doomwatch and Out of the Unknown. Charlton died in 1976, aged only 44.
