On This Day... 13th May

Ben and Polly elected to leave the TARDIS today in 1967, when they realised that it was the very day on which they had first set foot in it back in London, after the defeat of the War Machines. The final episode of The Faceless Ones ended on a cliff-hanger, as the Doctor informed Jamie that the TARDIS had been stolen.
Michael Craze and Anneke Wills had recorded their last scenes for Part Two, and only feature here in some location footage filmed before the studio sessions. They were contracted up to the second episode of The Evil of the Daleks but were let go early, though paid for the additional six weeks they should have worked.
The Mutants also came to a conclusion with its sixth instalment today in 1972.
2006 saw The Rise of the Cybermen begin on an alternative Earth.
One of several story arcs which ran through Series 10 was the Doctor's blindness. The incident which caused this took place in the episode Oxygen, which made its debut today in 2017.

A trio of Doctor Who villains share a birthday today, all of whom have appeared more than once.
First of all we have Milton Johns, who featured three times in the series, and a villain each time. His stories were The Enemy of the World, The Android Invasion and The Invasion of Time.
He is 84 today.
Zoe Wannamaker turns 73 today. She was the voice of Cassandra in The End of the World and New Earth (in which she got to appear as well).
Then we have Frances Barber, who portrayed Madame Kovarian throughout Series 6. She is 64.
Many happy returns to them all.
