On This Day... 13th February

The TARDIS was dragged down to The Web Planet today in 1965 - the opening instalment of the story of the same name.
The Doctor and the Master were fighting over the Mind Parasite at Stangmoor Prison in the third episode of The Mind of Evil in 1971.
In 2008 we had a double bill of Torchwood episodes. First up was Adam, which employed an amended opening sequence to make it look like the title character had been part of the team for some time.
Next up was Reset, which was the first of a trilogy of stories guest starring Freema Agyeman as Martha Jones.

Today we remember the actor and stunt performer Max Faulkner, who made regular appearances in the series throughout the 1970's. He had two significant roles as well as doing stunts and fight arranging - playing UNIT Corporal Adams in The Android Invasion, and Nesbin, leader of the Gallifreyan outsiders in The Invasion of Time
He has the distinction of twice being seen to be killed in a story, only to turn up unharmed later and be killed all over again. This happened in The Ambassadors of Death and in The Monster of Peladon. Other appearances included guards in Planet of the Spiders, Genesis of the Daleks and Planet of Evil. He was fight arranger on The Hand of Fear, and was seen taking the high fall in the power station as the possessed Dr Carter.
Faulkner passed away on this day in 2010, aged 79.

On a happier note, we can also wish Donald Sumpter a very happy 79th birthday today. He currently holds the record for the longest gap between first performance in the series (Enrico Casali in The Wheel in Space in 1968) and the last (Rassilon, in Hell Bent, in 2015). In between he played the submarine commander Ridgeway in The Sea Devils, as well as alchemist Erasmus Darkening in The Eternity Trap for The Sarah Jane Adventures.
