On This Day... 15th February

The Doctor finally got Tegan to Heathrow Airport today in 1982, in Part One of The Visitation. The only problem was that the airport hadn't been built yet. It was still only 1666.
Back in 1964, what might have been the final episode of Doctor Who was broadcast - The Brink of Disaster, which was the second half of The Edge of Destruction. At one point the BBC had threatened to pull the plug after 13 episodes due to budget concerns.
The Seeds of Death reached its fourth instalment in 1969. Also on its fourth episode on this date was The Ark in Space, in 1975. The TARDIS was left behind on space station Nerva, not to be seen again until the end of the season.
The Black Guardian trilogy moved on to its second chapter today in 1983, with Part One of Terminus.
Finally, Resurrection of the Daleks concluded with its second half in 1984.

Today we remember another of those actors who worked on the show many times over the years, in smaller supporting roles. Dallas Cavell, who died today in 1993 at the age of 67, first appeared in the series as the road works overseer in 1964's The Reign of Terror. He was back in The Daleks' Master Plan as Bors, leader of the convicts on the planet Desperus.
He then played the villainous Captain Trask in The Highlanders either side of New Year 1967 - a much more significant role.
His fourth outing was another bigger part, as Quinlan, the corrupt civil servant in charge of the UK space programe in The Ambassadors of Death. His final appearance was as the head security guard of the Pharos Project in Part One of Castrovalva.
Beyond the series itself, he was employed by JNT to play one the Ugly Sisters in his annual pantomimes.
