Robotic machines operated by IMC - the Interplanetary Mining Corporation. They could strip mine extensive landscapes more efficiently than human workers, whilst still having a degree of agility.
Captain Dent and his lieutenant Morgan employed a robot, equipped with fake claws, to attack a family of colonists on the planet Uxarieus in 2472. The planet had been categorised for colonisation, but it was also rich in minerals and Dent intended to use underhand methods to scare the farmers away. The robot attack was accompanied by a hologram of a huge reptile. The Doctor quickly realised that such a creature could never have passed through the colonists' door to attack them, and his suspicions were confirmed when he saw one of the robots in action. Later, Morgan tried to use one to kill the Doctor but he was able to destroy its control unit.

- Left outside overnight during a rainstorm, the robot prop was damaged by water.
- Visual effects assistant Ian Scoones also helped manoeuvre the prop around the clay pit location.
