On This Day... 19th November

The Power of the Daleks reached its mid-point today in 1966, with the debut of Part Three, whilst Image of the Fendahl came to an end in 1977 with its fourth instalment.
In 2006 Torchwood gave us Countrycide.
Series 1 of The Sarah Jane Adventures came to a close with Part Two of The Lost Boy, and Series Three approached its conclusion with the Part One of The Gift in 2009, its final story.
Finally, all the principal characters found themselves Detained in Class on this day in 2016. It's actually Katherine Kelly's 42nd birthday today - she was Miss Quill in the series.

The main birthday of note today is a very special one. William Russell, who played Ian Chesterton, is 97 today. Real name Russell Enoch, he was already well known for playing the title role in The Adventures of Sir Lancelot when he was cast as Ian for the pilot of An Unearthly Child. He remained on the series until the latter part of Season 2, bowing out at the conclusion of The Chase. He was the original guest returnee intended for Mawdryn Undead in the series' 20th Anniversary season - hence the public school setting, but proved unavailable. An extremely busy actor, he has 84 TV credits alone spanning a career from 1940 - 2013 (his final TV role being the cameo as the BBC security guard in An Adventure in Space and Time). Theatre wise he has been a member of the National Theatre, the RSC and he appeared in the Globe Theatre's opening season.
Many happy returns to him.
