Once, Upon Time has been given an Appreciation Index figure of just 75.
Whilst no-one bothers about viewing figures anymore (except the tabloid press, and the odd vlogger looking to justify their hatred of the show in its most recent form), the AI figure really does count.
It is the measure of how much the people who watched a show, irrespective of numbers, actually enjoyed the thing. Comprehension of the story would obviously play a big part in how people would rate a programme.
A figure of 60 is considered poor, with a figure of 85 or above excellent. Whilst 75 looks okay in this context, you have to consider the wider picture. Series 13 started with an AI figure of 76, then went up slightly to 77 for the Sontarans, and has then dropped to 75.
Chibnall has never attained anything higher than a score of 83. His lowest prior to this current series was 77.
If we go back to Chibnall's predecessors, some 82 of their stories have scored higher than Chibnall's best effort.
Some of the RTD season finales scored 91. Steven Moffat's best is an 89.
Looking at a chart of the ratings, at 75, Once, Upon Time has the (dis)honour of having the lowest AI score since the series returned in 2005.
