On This Day... 16th November

First of all, an apology. The other day I mentioned the debut of The Night of the Doctor on the BBC's red button service. It wasn't on the red button service, but its debut on-line on that date (14th). The red button debut was actually on today's date in 2013. Either way, 14th November 2013 remains the first occasion on which anyone could have seen it.

If yesterday was a day for fourth episodes, then today is one for Part Three's. Earliest was The Invasion, in 1968.
We later had third instalments of two Sylvester McCoy stories - Delta and the Bannermen in 1987, and The Happiness Patrol in 1988.
In 2012, the run-up to that year's Christmas Special included The Great Detective mini episode / prequel, featuring the Paternoster Gang.
Also on this date, in 2010, the fourth series of The Sarah Jane Adventures concluded with the second half of Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith.

Today's birthday of note is that of Lorraine Heggessey, who - as Controller of BBC 1 from 2000 to 2005 - was instrumental in bringing Doctor Who into the 21st Century. She turns 65 today.
