Three years ago today, 7th October 2018, Jodie Whittaker made her first full appearance as the Doctor, with the debut broadcast of The Woman Who Fell To Earth.
A bit of a marmite occasion, with some fans regarding this as the best thing that had happened to the series in a long time, and others regarding it as the worst thing to have happened - ever.
The ratings were very good, but a lot of people stupidly took these inflated numbers as a sign of her popularity, instead of waiting until after that initial casual viewer nosiness had abated. Ratings dropped away, week on week, from the next episode onwards.
Back in the days of the classic series, we had the second episode of The Abominable Snowmen on this day in 1967. This is the one that still survives in the archives, but rumour strongly has it that it will be the next Troughton story to be animated.
Also on this day, in 1978, The Pirate Planet reached its second episode.
