On This Day... 16th October

The Temple of Secrets - the first episode of The Myth Makers - was first broadcast today in 1965. This confused viewers at the time, who had just seen the Daleks threaten the Earth at the conclusion of the previous week's episode and naturally expected a continuation of this tale. 

This story saw Vicki written out of the series, and was the first story to be produced by John Wiles.

In 1976, Sarah Jane Smith's final story continued with the third episode of The Hand of Fear.

Then, in 2009, Prisoner of the Judoon concluded with its second episode on CBBC.

A birthday of note today is Guy Siner, who turns 74. He was General Ravon in Genesis of the Daleks, but is best known to the general public for playing Lt. Gruber in 'Allo, 'Allo - he of the little tank.
