On This Day... 9th June

In 1973 The Green Death had moved on to its fourth episode.
Today in 2007 the Weeping Angels made their debut in Blink. Last seen in the best of the Flux episodes, they are without doubt the most popular of the new creatures introduced since the series returned in 2005.

Today we wish David Troughton a very happy 72nd birthday.
Son of the Second Doctor, he once shared a flat with the Sixth Doctor. His first appearance in the programme was as a guard in two episodes of The Enemy of the World - a holiday job arranged by his dad.
This was followed by the more substantial role of Private Moor in The War Games - his father's final story, though they never appear together.
In 1972 he played King Peladon in The Curse of Peladon. Only years later did he and Katy Manning discover that each fancied the other at the time, but never acted upon it.
His last appearance to date came about by way of an accident. Actor Sam Kelly was due to portray Professor Hobbes in Midnight, but broke his leg just before recording. Troughton stepped in at the last minute.
He shares his birthday with fellow actor Eddie Marsan, who provided the voice for computer Mr White in the SJA story Goodbye, Sarah Jane Smith. He turns 54 today.
