On This Day... 14th June

The War Games finally arrived at its penultimate episode today - its ninth - in 1969. The War Chief and the Security Chief were both dead, and the War Lord captured, but someone new was on their way whom the Doctor was desperate to avoid...
In 2008 one of the highlights of the Tennant era made its debut - Midnight.

Today we remember another of those unsung heroes of the classic era - one of those actors who played several smaller roles throughout the 1960's and '70's.
Graham Leaman had mobility issues and therefore tended to play parts which allowed him to remain seated. We first saw him in The Macra Terror, where he played the Controller. In Fury From The Deep he had the more substantial role of Price, one of the main ESGO technicians.
The Seeds of Death then saw him playing the Ice Warrior Grand Marshal.
Into the Pertwee era and he portrayed Time Lords (or the same Time Lord) in two stories - Colony In Space and The Three Doctors.
He passed away in 1985, aged 64.
Max J Rosenberg, producer with Milton Subotsky of the two Peter Cushing Dalek movies, also died on this date - in 2004 aged 89. The pair were also responsible for all those classic Amicus portmanteau horror movies.
