The Web Planet concluded today in 1965 with an episode entitled The Centre. Apparently it was during the making of this episode that William Russell decided to leave the series. On hearing of his plan, Jacqueline Hill elected to leave with him.
The only other episode to debut on this date was Part Two of The Claws of Axos. This was broadcast in 1971.
Today we wish Freema Agyeman - companion Martha Jones - a very happy 43rd birthday. She featured in the series in a small role in Series 2, being killed by the Cybermen. The production team were so impressed by her that she was invited back as the new companion for Series 3. The likeness to the Series 2 character was put down to it having been Martha's cousin. She was brought back for three episodes of Series 4 and for David Tennant's final episode. She also played Martha in a trilogy of episodes of Torchwood's second series.
Agyeman shares her birthday with Marc Warren, who played Elton Pope in Love & Monsters. He turns 55 today.
Star Trek's Q also has a birthday today. John De Lancie featured in Torchwood: Miracle Day, in the episode End of the Road. Recently returned to play Q in the second series of Picard, he turns 74 today.
