It has been reported today that the actress Lynda Baron has died, at the age of 82.
Best known for the role of Nurse Gladys Emmanuel in the sitcom Open All Hours, and its sequel Still Open All Hours, she first became involved with Doctor Who in 1966. She was heard rather than seen in The Gunfighters, singing the Ballad of the Last Chance Saloon which ran throughout the story.
In 1983 she featured in the series properly as the pirate Captain Wrack, villain of Enlightenment.
Her final appearance was in 2011's Closing Time, where she played the shop assistant Val.
