The Wheel of Fortune was the third instalment of The Crusade, and it made its debut today in 1965.
The Third Doctor made his first visit to an alien world in the TARDIS in 1971, when the Time Lords sent him on a mission to the planet Uxarieus in the opening episode of Colony In Space.
This was also Jo Grant's first trip in the TARDIS.
In 2010 another companion was making their first voyage in the TARDIS - Amy Pond, in The Beast Below.
