The Faceless Ones moved on to its second episode today in 1967. This was the final episode recorded by Michael Craze and Anneke Wills as companions Ben and Polly. They did feature in the sixth episode, but this was only in a brief farewell scene filmed at Gatwick at the start of production.
It had originally been planned that they would have left two episodes into the following Dalek story, but were released early.
Also debuting its second instalment was The Mutants, in 1972.
Two of the newer series launched on this day - Series 2 in 2006 and Series 10 in 2017. The episodes for each were New Earth and The Pilot, the latter of which introduced new companion Bill Potts.
Today we wish Maisie Williams a very happy 25th birthday. Best known for Game of Thrones, she featured as Ashildr / Me throughout Series 9.
