A member of the Ood race who became stranded in a bubble universe. Here was a planet-sized entity known as 'House', which possessed great mental powers. It dominated the minds of the beings who found their way to its surface. House fed on the energy of captured TARDISes, killing their occupants and using their body parts to maintain his servants known as 'Aunt' and 'Uncle'.
Ood are particularly susceptible to the mental influence of others, and 'Nephew' was manipulated by House to capture and kill. Its eyes and translator globe glowed a sickly green - reminiscent of House's gaseous form.
On learning that the Doctor's was the last TARDIS, House seized it and used it to leave the bubble universe in search of new nourishment. Amy and Rory were trapped on board, along with Nephew, who was ordered to hunt them down.
Nephew cornered them in one of the old console rooms, but the Doctor materialised his makeshift TARDIS, built from the remains of others, on the same spot where it was standing - cancelling out its atoms.
Played by: Paul Kasey. Appearances: The Doctor's Wife (2011).
- Neil Gaiman intended Nephew to be a new creature - a hulking brute like the Frankenstein Monster. He was then advised to help the budget by cutting back on scenes and other elements, meaning he had to select a pre-existing monster costume / mask for Nephew. He picked the Ood as they had previously been seen to easily fall under the mental influence of others, which could be demonstrated visually via their glowing eyes.
