The title of the BBC Centenary Special has finally been unveiled as The Power of the Doctor.
A title which is devoid of spoilers, one wonders why this couldn't have been revealed months ago. I think it is very dull, but then Chibnall might be trying to emulate the "... of the Doctor" titles which were scattered across the 50th Anniversary (Night, Day, Name, Time).
Knowing what we know of the various old companions who will be featuring (Tegan, Ace, Graham, Vinder and Kate Stewart are just the ones we know about) and bearing in mind Chibnall once wrote a story called The Power of Three (referring to the Doctor, Amy and Rory), I will hazard a guess that the Doctor's "Power" refers to her companions.
The latest issue of DWM contains a photograph which looks like a massive spoiler - so therefore it can't possibly be one. The Master is holding a tiny shrunken Yaz, which is supposed to make us think he has killed her with his TCE weapon - but there's absolutely no way Chibnall (who has previously withheld information on new episodes to the extent that it has actually damaged the series, depriving it of publicity) would allow this to slip through were it to be what actually happens.
23rd October seems to be the likely transmission date, if they are sticking to Sundays. BBC America usually have a bit of a repeats marathon in the run-up to a new special, and there's nothing like that scheduled for 16th Oct.
