On This Day... 14th April

The Planet of the Daleks moved on to its second episode today in 1973. For only the third time a member of the TARDIS crew is shot by a Dalek. Ian Chesterton had his legs temporarily paralysed in their very first appearance, and here it is the Doctor's turn. Steven Taylor was also fired upon, but he had just been accidentally protected by a force-field.
In 2007, Martha Jones and the Doctor had become separated on the motorway on New Earth.
Gridlock featured the surprise return of the giant crab-like Macra after a 40 year gap.

This is the second day in a row when we can wish a Doctor a happy birthday. Peter Capaldi turns 64 today. He is no doubt very pleased to share the day with the late Terrance Dicks, who would have been 87 today.
